MACD is three related readings, not one buy-or-sell button

The line, signal line, and histogram describe momentum from different angles. Their value comes from reading the relationship—and knowing when the picture can become noisy.
Risk boundary: This is educational indicator literacy, not investment advice or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any crypto asset.
Start with the three parts
The BingX tutorial presents MACD as a set of three connected readings: the MACD line, the signal line, and the histogram. The lines are not separate forecasts. Their distance and order describe how one momentum calculation compares with its smoother reference, while the histogram visualizes the gap between them.
That relationship matters more than treating any single color or bar as a command. A crossover occurs when the MACD line moves through the signal line; the histogram changes with the distance between them. Those observations describe a shift in measured momentum, but the selected source does not establish that every shift leads to a durable price move.
Read location and disagreement as context
The tutorial also covers the zero line and divergence. A move around the zero line adds context about where the MACD calculation sits, while divergence asks whether the indicator and price are moving in visibly different ways. Neither idea identifies an asset's future path by itself; each is an interpretation that still depends on the chart and time frame being examined.
BingX places MACD beside RSI, moving averages, and volume rather than presenting it as a solitary answer. That multi-indicator approach can help a reader ask whether different measurements support the same interpretation. Agreement is still not proof, and disagreement is not automatically a reversal signal—it is a reason to inspect the setup more carefully.
Know where the reading gets noisy
The tutorial warns about sideways or choppy markets. When price lacks a sustained direction, the two lines can cross repeatedly and the histogram can expand and contract without producing a useful trend. This is a structural limitation of relying on a momentum reading after price data has already changed, not a defect that can be removed by finding one perfect setting.
A disciplined reading therefore separates observation from decision: identify what the lines and histogram are doing, check the zero-line and divergence context, compare other evidence, and define risk before acting. This dispatch supplies no live chart, asset setup, market timeline, or outcome data, so it cannot tell readers whether a current crossover is tradable or what caused any market move.
